How Holistic Physical Training Improves Health Among Physically Inactive Kids
It is a commonly known fact that a holistic approach to health has proven to have stronger and more long-lasting effects on life and overall health of people. The unfortunate thing is, people tend to Get into holistic wellness in the later part of their lives. What if children started getting into holistic wellness at a young age? That would pay-off big-time at a later age.
Children ideally, should be very active and move their bodies and have active minds at all times- since that is a sign of health during young age. However, in recent times, with the influence of technology, and limited outdoor space we’ve seen a drastic change. From children playing outside to being homebodies and playing on flat tv screens, their bodies have adapted (not in a good way) to these changes too. Lack of outdoor space and increasing pressure of studies add to the mix.
All this is important for the simple fact that medical researchers have concluded that physically active kids prove to have greater immunity against diseases, adapt better to external forces\challenges and much less likely to suffer from illnesses such as colds, fevers, infections, allergies, diabetes, blood [pressure etc.
Physically active kids have also shown improved mind power with higher levels of concentration and energy levels. Improved moods and stress relief are natural consequences that happen out of exercising.
Even moderate physical activity improves a child’s mathematical, observational, visualization and memory-retention capacity. Outdoor activities performed among groups and in programs help them to understand teamwork, co-operate, understand interpersonal relationships and make them ‘street-smart’.
There’s a grave danger to children constantly only getting exposed to tv screens during their crucial growing years. More than people want to admit there is, but you can easily ask a doctor, because the dangers are real and very, very possible.
With the influx of COVID-19 and the dawn of new forms of virtual classrooms, every student is now stuck in home even more. This trend will continue for a long-enough time. The problem is, this brings laziness, tiredness, underdeveloped bones and muscles and reduces pro-activity among children. In addition, exposure to screens for long amounts of time, strains the eyes and brain in an unhealthy way. Where the brain is absorbing too much unnecessary information and starts getting un-adapted to the outside world.
The most crucial developmental ages for kids are 4-16 years. This is when the body and mind needs most attention, as these are the foundational years that will have consequences later in life.
To help a child in all afore-mentioned problems, it becomes necessary to involve a child in physical and sports activities, preferably those that are holistic. Holistic fitness activities are basically those that benefit both the mind and body. The whole functioning of the person is taken into account for these activities. Few of these include yoga, kickboxing, meditation, strength training etc.
Another great benefit of admitting children into physical fitness programs, if that they learn to cultivate self-confidence and learn effective time-management. They understand how to incorporate their studies, friends, social life into leading a productive life while cutting-down on unnecessary screen-time.
